Caregiver Landed PR, finally comes!
​
​New and enhanced Caregiver Pilot Program will provide Permanent Residence upon arrival.

Today, Immigration Minister Marc Miller announced new, upgraded caregiver pilots that will allow caregivers to continue coming to Canada while they work to make the caregiver pilot programs permanent.
The new pilot programs will grant home care professionals permanent residency (PR) as soon as they arrive in Canada.
They will also be able to work with organizations that provide temporary or part-time care to those who are semi-independent or recovering from an injury or illness.
This new method enables caregivers to more easily find suitable work with reputable companies and gain clear, uncomplicated access to permanent resident status on-arrival in Canada.

NEW Eligibility:

• a minimum of level 4 in English or French proficiency based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
• Education level equivalent to Canadian high school diploma
• have latest relevant work experience
• have a full-time job offer in home care

Miller confirmed that the pilot is expected to be launched by the end of fall 2024 or, at the latest, in early 2025.
These new PR on arrival pilot initiatives represent a significant step forward in Canada’s attempts to fulfill the changing home care demands of its varied population.

Migrant farmworkers, domestic workers, undocumented and sex workers have created a Migrant Unity Quilty of stories, images and collective desires. The quilt signifies our struggles and our victories for equality, justice and permanent resident status for all.
This installation is accompanied by hand drawn pictures by hundreds of migrant children separated from their families, or living in fear of deportation and separation, calling for family unity.
Join us at the launch event to deepen the struggle to regularize everyone and ensure status for all. The launch will include artist talks, music and snacks. RSVP now!

The Migrant Unity Quilt is created by members of Migrant Rights Network – Ontario including Butterfly,
​Caregiver Connections Education and Support Organization (CCESO), FCJ Refugee Center, Migrant Workers Alliance for Change and Workers Action Centre. The children’s drawings are created by family members of Migrant Workers Alliance for Change.
